***I wrote this on the 10th…just getting to the coffee shop to post!***
Every time I decide to make another entry while I’m here means I get to go to the coffee shop to use their internet service and drink a latte’…so it’s very important that I keep things up to date! Wouldn’t want to get behind, would I? It rained pretty much all day yesterday. But late afternoon gave us a little break in the weather so Greg, Max and I took our chairs and made a little trip to the beach.
Not much sun could break through the clouds and high tide gave us very little beach but boy, was I glad to be there! Greg and Max read their books and I just leaned back in my chair, watched the waves roll in and breathed in that sea air…God did such an awesome thing when he created the shoreline. We were there right at high tide and it was interesting to watch from our spot at the water’s edge. The waves would come in, break, and then the water would come up toward us. What was interesting was seeing how at times even though the water level looked so high that it might come up and soak us, it seemed to stay back, as if it was being held. Which it was – I mentioned to Greg then that it reminded me of the line in the song “My Redeemer Lives” that says “Who told the ocean ‘You can only come this far’?” (Answer: God did!)
I am always pretty amazed by the Lord but I seem to be even more awed by Him when I am near the ocean. He is in complete control of this planet and the universe, but still cares deeply and intimately for me. (And you!) I don’t know why He loves me so, but I am so grateful that He does.
Speaking of love, today (7/10, when I’m actually writing this) is my mom and dad’s 53rd wedding anniversary. I love them so much.
Their love for each other and for our family – my brothers and I growing up and now my husband, their wives, and all of our children – has been a tremendous example for us. They are precious to each of us. I asked dad to smile for the picture and he said, “I AM smiling.” So I just kept going and ended up with a fun one, too.
Today at the beach, Greg, Dad and I walked and got into a little conch-searching. And then a little conch-finding. Really, a LOT of conch-finding. I don’t think we’ll need to look for any more. Here’s our “crop” for 2007.
While mom and dad were out celebrating their anniversary with a nice dinner, we took the boys out for a little greasy pizza/messy wings/fried mozzarella/totally unhealthy but completely delicious supper. Obviously, they enjoyed it.

Your Dad is SO Cute!
Max's picture is adorable....tell him thats how I eat wings too.
And I LOVE these beach photos. Its a nice way for me to get out of touch of a wv life and in touch with God's awesomeness of the coast. When you described your experience sitting there I can almost smell the salty breeze.
Are one of those conches mine? So when you get them what do you do with the live creature inside??
let me just say that I'm so glad that you were able to break away from those boys and get yourself a latte.
i now live in the mountains, which do cause wonder within but I, like you, am awed by Gods creating the ocean. Your parents are so cute and in the candid photo all I can see in your dad's face are your brothers. As for the dinner, I love junk food nights, how could you even attempt a vacation without a few of them.....it just seems unamerican to go without pizza and wings on vacation.....but please make sure you also have an ice cream night!
