last year blake participated in NYLSC, a youth leadership training conference. he was nominated by one of his teachers and accepted to go. when luke saw what they did and how much fun it seemed to be, he told me he hoped he’d get to go the next year. they only nominate a couple kids from the school, so i wasn’t sure we should get our hopes up but guess what? one of luke’s teachers nominated him this year!! same teacher, actually. she must really like our boys! (and why not?) anyway, this was luke’s week. it was in chevy chase, md, at the 4h conference center. we left wednesday – got an early start due to bad weather and a snow day for our county’s schools. of course we made a stop in beckley at the travel plaza so we could get starbucks to get us through…made it to our hotel in arlington much earlier than last year and so the boys had a chance to swim. and argue over who got to sleep on the rollaway bed.
why is that the prime spot? we finally decided to draw names and max was the lucky winner. we ate dinner at a new place for us, called cosi’s. it was pretty good. the people who worked there weren’t exactly friendly but the food was good. and they had a cpr kit available at the register.
