happy birthday luke!!!

today is luke's birthday...he's 14! i've lost count of how many times i've asked myself (and everyone else) where in the world the time goes. i should probably quit asking because nobody really knows the answer. i had a little fun this morning and woke luke up by jumping up in the bed with him and bouncing him around a little while i sang happy birthday. he tried to pretend it wasn't fun, but he was smiling and once he starts smiling his smile takes over his whole face and he has a hard time stopping. next stop was blake's room for the same bouncing but a different song (happy big brother's day to you). he didn't even open his eyes but he had a big grin on his face. max was pouty later on because he didn't get the same treatment and a little brother song but i told him he wasn't there as a little brother when luke made his entrance into the world so i was really sorry about that but oh well. he's over it, i'm pretty sure. blake and luke spent their morning getting ready to go camping with their scout troop. since he'd be out of town for his birthday supper, we decided to take him out for birthday lunch instead. he wanted a burger from five guys, so that's where we went. nanny and pop went along and we had a really nice time. the best part of that whole event wasn't lunch though. it was seeing my dad give luke his "birthday spankins" on the stage area down at pullman square. or maybe it was really seeing the looks on the other people's faces who were witnessing the whole thing and wondering what in the world was going on and whether or not they should call CPS. absolutely cracked me up. luke didn't even try to get away - he was disappointed he'd missed out on the spankins when we had family over for cake and ice cream the other night. speaking of that...we celebrated luke's birthday with our family (both DNA-sharing family and the honorary kind) on tuesday evening. just cake and ice cream, that's all it was. and a bunch of flat rectangular gifts for luke (his favorite kind). and of course lots of talking and laughing. oh! and crying...hannah and andrew were fast friends but that went down the tubes pretty quickly when there was some sort of collision out front. i'm not entirely sure what happened, but hannah and andrew each had boo-boos and hannah was very upset. the more she talked about it the more upset she got. when she made it to where sarah beth was sitting, she told the story one more time and got upset all over again. i know i shouldn't have laughed, but i just thought the whole thing was comical. by the time she's old enough to care that this picture is on here, blogs will probably be obsolete and no one will be reading them anyway. so it's going on.

back to luke...i think he's had a great birthday. he has a pretty good time in general, though. his party continued today even on the trip to where they are camping. i was texted a picture of him sitting at a mcdonalds somewhere between here and there with the birthday cake greg got for him. who knows what other surprises they'll have for him. last year he was at scout camp and they threw him in the lake, so he'd better watch his back.
here are some pictures from luke's actual BIRTHday birthday and the days shortly after.

Happy Birthday Luke!

Oh, do you remember when we thought he was never going to get here? Remember walking on the bike trail trying to get him going? (and the rude woman telling you...9 months pregnant...one way or the other lady!) I think that was early June if I am not mistaken...LOL. Those pictures of all of you have great memories...I enjoyed seeing them.

Have a great weekend!

Well I NEVER comment on blogs but this one deserves something. I dont know where the time goes either. Seems like only yesterday when I think I met you for the first time. (I think). Parchment Valley for a retreat between Highlawn and Beverly Hills. My how the years have flown. I love the birth pics. Just awesome. The boys are turning into men. And you are quite the mom.
