our county's last day of school was friday. but max's was thursday because he was leaving for church camp friday morning. i had originally thought it was only going to be called "thursday" in the week of days named for whatever was going on that day.

but it was actually "board game day". the kids were allowed to bring board games and so of course they did, and that's what they did all day. plus alexis' dad brought pizza and cupcakes in the afternoon, so they had a big party. again. anyway, max had a great last day with his friends. everybody was there except for one little boy, so he got time with the majority of them. he had bought a hanging basket with gerber daisies in it for mrs. reichenbecher (his teacher) and a

starbucks card for shawn, our wonderful school bus driver. i asked him if he'd like to make them cards and he said he would. he worked and worked and worked and i kept wondering what was taking so long but when i saw them, i knew. he had put a lot of thought into what he was making for them. and i knew they were going to love them. for hers he spelled her name out and came up with something about her for each letter.

when i went to school to get some pictures and to pick him up, mrs. r told me she loved her daisies. then she put her hand to her mouth and said "that card!"...she said she's framing it. max was so proud...he didn't get to see her annual last day of school cartwheel since he didn't go on friday but he said he'd seen her do a cartwheel before. i'm not sure she'd do it with the same gusto as on the last day of school (add to that she was going to grand cayman on saturday) but as long as he was happy we were good.
