well today was andrew's first day of kindergarten. i don't even have a kindergartner of my very own yet for some reason, there i was at his bus stop taking pictures. max and i have kind of adopted that bus stop for our very own, mainly because it gives us a little extra smith fix for the day. we had a nice little crowd there today - nathan and jim and jane were there for the big event. 
blake was even with me because he had an orthodontist appointment at 8, so it made no sense to send him to his school then drive out there to get him as soon as he got there. he's never seen his little brother off on the school bus, so i thought it was kind of special. anyway, we had a nice little few moments waiting for the bus. spencer even got to hop in the van with blake and stay warm and dry while we waited. kathy getting one last shot for her blog and the smith family archives.
the tag on spencer's shirt made me laugh.
blake's orthodontist appointment was to get those braces taken off! he was so happy this day had come, and so were we...i was excited to see what that smile was going to look like without metal on it. he looks GREAT!!! he's happy with himself and glad to be done with it. well, except for retainers and some upcoming dental work, but oh well. they gave him his box of hooray-for-you popcorn - it's supposed to be a reward for hanging in there and following all the food rules that come with braces. right. he's had a few slip-ups in the past couple years. but for the most part, he followed the rules and earned the treat. at least he got to eat this popcorn without worrying about his brackets popping off.
and a side note...luke had a better day. no high school induced headache today. =)

Your bus stop is a very polular place I see. And that sweet bus driver...hugs from me for him. Blake always had a great smile but look how much bigger it is today. Way to go! And did I see you with actual work clothes on? Holy Moley!
I can only imagine how happy Blake is to get those braces off...Yay for him! Happy belated Birthday to Max.
That is quite a scary thing seeing Blake behind the wheel...not because he isn't safe...but because they are growing up way too fast. We have managed to hold Brittany off until next spring. And she is ok with it!

Ahh I still remember when my sister got her braces off long ago, memorable day! My favorite pic is (of course) Kathy with her camera, half-way in the schoolbus! love it!
