saturday was cold and wet.

and felt pretty lazy in the early morning for most of us. except for blake because he traveled to fairmont with his choir teacher and a few classmates to audition for state chamber choir. they left school around 7, so that's a much earlier saturday than he's used to. he said the auditions went really well...said he messed up once and his voice cracked once (it's that time of life) but he felt like he did well. we'll find out if he made it in a week or so i think. they stopped at a chinese buffet on the way home and he tried sushi.

this is surprising, because that boy will not even eat cooked fish. he said since he didn't like it cooked he thought he might like raw. (but no.) max and greg spent the later morning hours at church for max's dress rehearsal for the children's choir program at church sunday. luke spent the morning in bed, til i made him get up about 11. he had promised one of his friends from scouts that he'd come help with his eagle project. so i took him out to the little victories animal shelter and he and 4 other boys planted 6 maple trees.

they did it pretty quickly, really, considering it was pretty darn cold and it was raining to boot. he came home pretty chilly and pretty wet, but had a good time and was full of stories (as usual). stories about digging holes (he and jacob were they dynamic duo because they could dig so fast), puppy stories (pit bulls included) and gross little critters in the creek when they went to get water for the trees. blake got home late afternoon and was pretty tired. he had enough time at home to sit a bit and have supper. but then he had to get all dressed up again and go to a sweet 16 party for one of his friends. it was a black and white dressy thing. and that dressing up thing is ok by me. i think he looks SO handsome. he was out late, party was over at midnight, so with his early morning and late night, he's dragging today.
