i caught up on jan's blog this morning and her latest entry was a recipe for a really quick chocolate cake that you do in your microwave. max is home from school today because it's frigid outside and his school has no heat today. so i decided today was a great day to try her recipe and have chocolate cake for lunch! in case for some silly reason you're reading this but don't read jan's blog, here's how we did it.
we got a couple of my favorite really big starbucks mugs out and put in 4T flour, 4T sugar and 2T cocoa and stirred it up a little.

then we added 1 egg and mixed that up. this was max's first time cracking an egg (on purpose). he says it felt weird but he wasn't grossed out.

next we put in 3T oil and 3T milk (we used chocolate milk)...i think next time i'll try using coffee instead...yum...

then we stirred in 3T of chocolate chips.

and then into the microwave it went. i'd show you the picture of our mugs in the microwave but on closer inspection, my microwave's not looking so good. =) we set the timer for 3 minutes and watched them bake. cook. nuke. whatever. and it smelled GOOD.

our patience for that really long cooking time was rewarded with this:

taste test:
success!
