we're kind of spread hither and yon this week. blake and luke are at scout camp working their little hearts out earning merit badges on their way to eagle scout rank.
max and i are in nc with my family and greg is holding down the fort at home. max and i are in nc earlier than the rest of my bunch because my extended family on my mom's side is here this week. everyone but my other 3 and one of my cousins and my cousin's husband. we flew down this year because it was cheaper than driving. how sad is that? greg found us a deal where max flew free with the purchase of my ticket. and only an hour flight from home. it turned out to be a glorified shuttle bus but it was ok and we were safe and we got here.
we did end up not being able to sit together, which max was worried about from the get-go once we discovered it was open seating. the flight attendant made us move from where we'd planted ourselves so i told her that was fine but she'd be helping me find 2 seats together. and then i stuck to her like glue, which i believe kind of annoyed her. =) there were no seats together by that time. she worked out a little something because we ended up with him in front of me which i went with because max told me he was good with it. we did fine. and i got to poke him and pat him on the head and stuff like that from behind him, which he seemed to think was funny.
mom and dad were there to pick us up and we saw some cousins at the airport as well. stopped for lunch near the airport and then we were on our way. we love to be here! of course it's vacation, but it always feels more like just spending time at mom and dad's house only there's an ocean across the way. we spent the first couple days getting situated, going to the grocery store, and so on. dad and i saw a rainbow on our way out of the store! went to church sunday morning - that was great because all of my blakes were there except for my 3. what a blessing to sit with them all. not to mention being able to hear my brothers singing from
down the row a bit. well, at least max. scott was too far down. we made it down to the beach on monday morning (FINALLY!). there was a new sea turtle nest right off the boardwalk. my aunt linda said they had been with the sea turtle people and did the sea turtle dance at the nest....wish i'd seen that...max had so much fun in the waves. actually i did too. it was too hot to stay out of the water much!
