greg and blake worked some more saturday on blake's room. lots of nice paint fumes happening around here. part of our post marshall game "did that really happen?" therapy. they got it all coated once. sunday, our nephew drew spent the day with us - church in the morning and then home with us for lunch and LOTS of conversation. it was so good to have him here. a little odd to have JUST him - not his parents, not his sister, just him. but we loved it and we're looking forward to more times just like it. today, greg and i put 2 more coats of paint on blake's walls and finally got the green covered up. now it's pretty bright in there. i told him he might need sunglasses. it could be easier for him to get up in the morning because the darkness of night can't possibly overtake the color on those walls. it'll look great once he gets it all thundering-herded up.

we got some very badly needed rain this afternoon, slow and steady. it sounded beautiful in the woods behind our house. that is such peaceful music. it was still raining when max came home from school and i knew he'd be taking his time coming down the hill from the bus. he LOVES to walk in the rain and see just how wet he can get. tonight was scout night for blake and luke. it happened to also be election night for troop officers. blake has been wanting to be senior patrol leader for a couple years now. troop dynamics can get a little interesting and sometimes things don't quite happen the way we'd like them to. we've had several conversations about our timing and God's timing. and that if it didn't work out the way he wanted this time, it was because God had a different idea about what he should be doing at this point. (which he totally gets.) off they went to scouts.

i could NOT wait for them to get home. every car door i heard all evening i was sure was them. but the phone rang a little later and it was greg's cell number. i thought, oh boy here we go...which way did they vote?!?! i said hello and heard a happy blake on the other end. he was

elected senior patrol leader and he was SO glad and proud and relieved! i hope it's all he wants it to be. it'll be a learning experience, that's for certain. i have to put in this picture of luke. i had pictures of max and pictures of blake from today, so i had to take his picture too. he said, "every time you take a picture of someone doing something, you take a picture of me doing nothing." i told him maybe he ought to do something! he cracks me up,
that's something.
