i'm playing catch-up

when you go for awhile without posting, things can kind of get away from you. i have too much to write about today and i know things are going to get the reader's digest condensed version treatment. better than nothing i suppose! fall activities are in full swing and we are BUSY. we're always busy but once school starts, busy becomes BUSY. max is playing soccer again this year, had his first practice this past tuesday. he really loves to play and it's a great outlet for him. his practice was 1 1/2 hours, more than we're used to. big brothers get a little bored...max's friend mason is on his team this year so i got the chance for good conversation with mason's mom/my friend kelli. on thursday evening was our town's fall fest parade. i'm always amazed that there is anyone left to watch the parade, because it seems like everyone is in the thing. sarah beth had never been to the parade so she came along, which we loved. actually i reaped the most benefit from that because greg/blake/luke were off mowing grass before it started and came later, and max was safely delivered to his cub scout float where stewarts hot dogs were waiting for him. so sarah beth and i had some good girl time together. i just love that girl and i'm so grateful for any minutes we get to be together. my brother scott was there and he sat with me. 2 of his girls were riding in the parade with their dance group. the fall fest parade is a great big candy throwing extravaganza. candy everywhere, all over the street. if you catch enough you don't have to shop for trick-or-treat the next month. max always enjoys throwing it. you really have to watch, those kids can get a little vigorous with the pelting. nathan and kathy drove one of nathan's dad's cars, so we got to yell at them when they passed. when our church preschool group came around on the tractors, greg helped sarah beth on mark's so she wouldn't have to walk out of the parade mess. had i known before that evening that this was going to be our escape plan for her and that she would become part of the actual parade, i'd have made her a sash that said "miss" something or other. oh well. friday night was middle school band night at the cmhs game. the 8th graders get their chance to march with the high school band during pregame. so there luke was, in the thick of it. he doesn't plan on being in the band next year, but he really enjoyed himself. and now we finally have pictures of him doing something! he did a good job keeping in step with the rest of them. saturday morning was max's first soccer game. greg/blake/luke were hiking, still preparing for the kanawha trace. but they did make it for most of the game. mom and dad got to come. my dad especially enjoys watching the kids play. he gets a big kick out of it and i hear him laughing quite a bit. max did great and his team won, so he was a happy boy. this blog is a mile long but could've been waaaay longer. i'll be done now. but if the nursing thing doesn't work out, i'm getting in touch with the cliff notes people.

I love how busy you are...remember those days and wish I could have them back, What great memories! Sarah Beth needed a cool sash. She is a sweetie! I can just see her giving the queen wave to all the people lined up along the street.
