you decide what to call it. i can't think today.

i need to do a little bit of catching up. it's only been a couple days but they've been full and i don't want to get too far behind. yesterday was "shade out drugs and crime day" at max's school, so that was pretty easy to accomplish. only about a 5 minute hunt for some sunglasses he would agree to. so picky. today was "sock it to drugs and crime day". he wore some weird socks i've had for about 25 years. it's not as if i've worn them in the past 20 and i've never worn them in public. at least i hope not. so i can't remember but i think they're supposed to be chicken legs or something silly like that. not too many people wore silly socks, he said. had it been me, i'd probably have been too embarrassed to be one of the only ones and i'd have taken them off. not him, though. he does what he wants to. not always a bad thing.

pavel and zoya jirov are here visiting from russia. pavel is pastor of hope church in ryazan. hope church is our church's sister church. greg has made many trips there. pavel was here one time but had to cut his trip short and go home because zoya was very ill and in the hospital an ocean and most of a continent away. so we are pleased as we can be to have them both in our home now. he has preached and they both have been speaking in various places...wherever they're asked to. we do have a translator, irina, for these public speaking things. yesterday they went to luke's school and spoke in 2 or 3 classes. they were invited to stay and eat lunch so they did. i imagine luke was just beside himself with happy because they were in his territory and he got to show them off. last night and today they spoke at our church. they also got to meet some of the little ones at our church's preschool. this morning they spoke at an area Christian school. tonight we're just hanging around the house - we have no translator here but we've been doing just fine. greg has picked up enough of their language over the years to make it pretty easy. he and pavel have become very good friends. the communication probably sounds more difficult than it actually is. body language and facial expressions go a long way. and some things are just understood.
