pre-Christmas good stuff, volume 3

our friends the brownfields have a nativity walk at their home every year at Christmas time. for one reason or another, we have never been able to go. this year greg, luke and max got to go. max was recovered enough from his most recent tonsillitis episode to go. blake and i stayed home with his head crud and ear infection. anyway, they had a really good time. ron described it to me as an "outdoor Christmas party" - a hike to bethlehem. he read Scripture along the way, they sang some carols - spent time reflecting on the story of Christ in Christmas.
and there was a cross lit up at the end. after all, that was the purpose of Jesus' stooping down to us on earth - putting on our flesh - Emmanuel. God with us.

we had some surprise carolers at our door last night - our very first ones of the season - and we were so happy to see them. they were pickin' cute, for one thing! one little guy sang rudolph the red-nosed reindeer no matter what the others were singing at the time. finally they all gave in and sang it with him. we loaded them up with chocolate and candy canes and sent them on their merry way. kristi, if you're reading this, thank you for stopping by our little home!

greg came home with another gift last night from someone at church. he saw that it was from the smiths, so i knew i had to have the camera. he asked if i knew what was in there and of course i did. then he was a little cautious and not sure he even wanted to open it. (he couldn't resist though!) the story behind this is that kathy thinks greg runs on batteries because he rarely, if ever, slows down. she calls him gregacell....gregagizer....stuff like that. when she saw them on ebay she couldn't pass them up. and there was one for gregacell junior thrown in with the deal.
