we had a pretty good weekend. after their big one day of school for the week (friday) our boys were really ready for some rest and relaxation. which translates to hours of mindless guitar hero games on the wii and various other activities that involve staring at a screen. fortunately they were invited to a friend's birthday party and all he wanted to do when he had his friends all to himself was play football. so off to the park they went for hours of post-snow-melt-mud football. and why not get as muddy as possible, especially when you have permission?
sad to say i have no pictures of it because greg and i took the kidless opportunity to go wander around downtown and eat lunch together without referee-ing. we went to benny's because greg had never been there. it was very good, again, for me. they say they're the best on earth (...really? the whole planet??), but who really knows about that?
i'll take a picture of just about anything these days, though. after lunch, we went to starbucks. guess what? they still had red cups! so i had my second "last rest cup of red cup season" moment. we're rarely at the downtown starbucks so it was kind of fun. still ended up seeing some folks we know.
one was chris, who is one of our favorite people from "our" starbucks. actually, he doesn't work there anymore, he's at a bookstore now. but there he was and we got to see him, which made me happy. we also got to spend a little time with my mom and dad.
the boys didn't get to but it was still good to be there. (we actually got to talk without the referee-ing i mentioned earlier.)
