when he called saturday morning to check on max, dr. cuzzourt said if we could make it through saturday and sunday that monday should be the start of being better. and it was! there was a huge difference in the max that went to bed sunday night and the max that came out of his room monday morning. yay! and since then he has just continued to feel better and better. he's still easily tired out but he's well on his way to being himself. he has certainly been pampered but that's ok. lots of friends still taking care of him. our smiths came over for a visit...something i can't document photographically because i would like for kathy to still love me. (the pictures i have would make her shout "delete!", and she does have pictures of me in her possession that i would like to keep out of worldwide circulation.) they came back a little later for milkshake delivery. something max was very happy about!

he had a visit yesterday from his buddy alex who was delivering cards his classmates had made him and popsicles from his teacher. he enjoyed going through all of those. some of them are hilarious. finally yesterday he started eating "real" food, which is something i've been waiting for. that makes me feel like we're almost over this - and i always feel good when my people are eating. he's moved up from popsicles and pudding to mac & cheese and even some pancakes. he's been playing a little wii, watching tv, doing some homework, taking some naps...oh and i just heard him whine. (did i say the other day that i missed his voice?) today's whining is brought to you by...a water main break in huntington that caused schools to be closed...brothers are home...life's getting back to normal. "normal" being a relative term. i have to go boil some water now.
