i've decided that chickens really work overtime during the Easter season. i've lost track of how many boxes of 18 grade A large eggs i've bought over the last few weeks. eggs for baking, eggs for coloring, eggs for deviled eggs for Easter dinner. so now i'm kind of done with eggs for a bit. anyway, that really has nothing to do with anything. just making an observation.
Easter egg-coloring has always been a pretty low-key event at our house. fun, but pretty quiet and pretty organized, what with 3/4 of the males in the house being type A's. this year was different. we joined bob and kim and their girls at nathan and kathy's for some Easter eve/kathy's birthday fun. total mayhem, but SO much fun. we talked and laughed and talked and laughed (infinity!), the kids colored eggs, we ate pizza, made resurrection rolls and sat down together (all of us) and told the Jesus' Easter story by way of resurrection eggs. (if you're reading this and don't know what resurrection rolls or resurrection eggs are, google them!) this was one of the best evenings of my whole entire life. even though we did a ton of stuff in a short time, it was unstructured - one thing just kind of flowed into the next. and it was just so good to be there with them all. there were too many good pictures to post individually so i went with the slide show option. ***this slideshow thing has a silly box that pops up partway through. just close that little box and keep going with the slides. don't know what the deal is with that.***
