when luke was maybe 1 or 1 1/2, he dumped himself out of a toy bucket and his new little sharp teeth busted his lip. or as he called it, his "yip". took him to e.r. and he got a stitch in his yip. he said "they sew my yip!" (when the stitch was removed he said "they unsew my yip!"...i couldn't not put that here!) i have pictures from that time but can't put my hands on them right now so i can't post them.

ok, so thursday at his basketball practice an elbow coming down from a rebound landed in luke's mouth and once again, he got a busted yip. i couldn't decide if he needed stitches or not. at the time it looked like a perfect little flap. went by jeff and donna's and jeff said a stitch or two would be a good idea. so off to the e.r. we went. i'd worked in the e.r. all day and wasn't looking forward to luke and i sitting in the waiting room with the germs i knew would be there, but what can you do? lucky for us a doctor friend of ours saw us and kind of moved us along a little faster than we would've gone on our own. start to finish we were there 3 hours, which is a long time but really not too shabby. anyway, luke ended up with 3 stitches. he typically doesn't handle anything medical very well at all. tends to get a little washed out (as in no facial color except maybe gray) and nauseated and passie-outie. but he did great! broke a sweat but a cold rag took care of things. we got home and in bed a little before midnight. however, when he came down to get ready for school the next morning, guess who had no color in his face and a pukie feeling in his stomach? so we took it easy all day. oh and guess what else? before lunch time, 2 of his stitches had come out.

we were going out for the evening with our kaplans, so when donna saw him she suggested a liquid bandage that's available for use in/on the mouth. we're up for anything to fix him, so we got some to put on when we got home. we went to the home show - they had lots of things there we'd like to do to our house but won't be doing because they're not dave ramsey approved at this point in time.

the wsaz news people were there so greg took the opportunity to ask john marra (plant expert guy) about when to cut back my lilac. he wanted expert advice because he knows i'll kill him if he kills it. oops there went my "G" rating! anyway, now we know. **and in case you're curious, wait til the last bloom falls off and then you can cut it back 1/4 to 1/3.** also while we were there, luke's 3rd stitch fell out.

more incentive to use the liquid bandage. dinner happened at uno's. we all wanted to go somewhere we could relax and sit and talk and not feel like we had to hurry. we just love to be with jeff and donna and the boys and this is really the first time we've done anything together since Christmas break. it was great to catch up with them. love those kaplans. all 9 of us naturally gravitate toward the nearest starbucks (see? it really isn't just me!) so we spent a little time there. always a good idea...

this morning we were having ice and now we're having snow. but not enough for me. i want jan's "white death" as she calls it. seriously, i wish we'd just get one big humongous snowfall and then i'd shut up about it. the ice was enough for the upward people to cancel the last basketball games. so now we have a totally unscheduled no plans blank calendar square kind of day. it's way past noon and i'm still in my pj's. aaaaahhhhh.

we stay away from those homeshows for sure right now...someday though.
Oh, stitches...you might get to be a pro like me at taking them out. But , bo wait, yours just fall out. Hope the lip is starting to heal. :) I need a SNB update sometime when you have time.
