boy scout business

we have another scout leader in the household...luke was elected by his troop to be their next SPL (senior patrol leader) and he is way past happy about that. i didn't even know he had the desire to hold that position until a day or so before the election when i asked him if he was going to run for anything and he very casually answered "SPL." he ran against one other boy, who happens to be one of his good friends. when i went to pick my boys from scouts that evening, luke got to the car first, got in, sat down. nothing. not a peep. "well?" i asked. "oh! i got it!" he said. YAY!!!! so proud of him. proud that he wanted to and proud that he accomplished it. at least the getting there part. the leadership part will be interesting to see. i have no doubt that he can do it, i'm just really interested to see his methods - how his "lukeness" plays out in a leadership role. those of you who know luke well know what i'm talking about! i can't wait to watch!
