it seems like my boys are always packing up to go somewhere. today was no exception. blake and luke left this morning with several others from our church to go to ichthus, a Christian music festival held in wilmore, ky.

blake really wanted to go last year but didn't get to so he's been excited to go this time. he and luke both have been anxious for today to come. they're going to get to see a lot of their favorite bands and i'm sure they'll hear a lot of great teaching. not to mention how fun it'll be for them to be with these people we love for the weekend. after they left, max and i didn't get into too much.

we went on a couple of errands but after that we've pretty much been home all day and that's been nice. we watched some scary tv on discovery channel and there was some appropriately timed thunder outside to go along with the creepiness on the screen. we drank iced tea and ate cheezits and stuff like that. when greg got home (and after we ate supper) he and max did some yard work. max helped greg mow, and then he waited and waited til it was done so he could "blow".

he likes to use the blower so he was pretty happy about that. he also got a lesson from his dad on the greg creasy method of winding up a power cord. i got in a little more chocolate cake practice with the recipe i'm using for jeremy and janessa's wedding shower. this time instead of the storebought frosting i used last time (no good with this recipe!) i made the frosting recipe that is alongside the cake recipe in my book. it was really good - has a coffee flavor - and although it's definite pms material, i don't even think you need to be a girl to appreciate it. greg and max both like it very much.

i took a few pieces to jeremy so he could try it out and it got his stamp of approval. one piece only took a couple of bites and required no fork, so we're good. but i asked him if he'd rather have buttercream frosting and he thought he would. so of course that's what i'll be making...i want that groom to be happy with his wedding shower cake! love that boy.

i left a piece for diane at her house but i left it with dwayne so i'm not sure if she'll get it or not. i texted kathy to come down for some so she and spencer made a little visit. he was a bit excited (as usual). i think this picture captures schpence's true essence. lots of yippy barking, and most of it at things none of us human types could see. max and i wondered if he was seeing some of the "spirits" we watched on our creepy tv afternoon...nah. we didn't think so either.

that "schpence" pic looks like some sort of alien--or wait no more like a spider or some reptile. really gross actually without his cute little face. good thing there's chocky cake above it to kind of balance things out....
ps im tellin the pastor that you were taking pictures during reverent prayer.
Ahhh, ICHTHUS! I miss going. That weekend is always the greatest time for the kids and the adults that get the chance to go. We aren't making the trip this year, much to Sarah's distain, but we did send a group for MWBC with a sunshade. Does that count? Looks like just a bunch of boys are going...where are all the girls? The cake looks great...sharing that recipe are you?
i'm pretty disappointed in this post -- no picture of a starbucks cup.
in my defense, there's sbux coffee in the cake. that ought to count for something.
