trying something new

i bought one of these at the grocery store the other day because i'd never had one and i like to get new things for us to try from time to time. the sticker on it said "kiwi horned melon". here's what i found online about it..."Kiwano Horned Melon - is a member of the cucumber family and not of the kiwi family. Looks like an oval melon with horns and is very decorative. Picked green, the kiwano horned melon tastes like a mix of lemon and banana." pretty interesting looking. and kind of painful if you're not careful. drew said it was the only fruit he'd seen that was able to protect itself. max loves fruit better than anything and he was really looking forward to cutting into it to give it a try. we did that yesterday. max's enthusiasm did not last long. it was slimy and spongy and pretty much disgusting. we tasted it without chewing it, took its picture and went on with our day.
