another sunday. another monday. i'm not feeling so creative.

so i'm feeling pretty lazy right about now and not so much like blogging. but i'm thinking that if i don't keep up i'll get too far behind and then i'll forget things or i'll give up and not even try to get it all in. yesterday was sunday and so we took the morning off from the beach/pool/sun activities to go to church with mom and dad at their home-away-from-home church, calvary baptist. when i was growing up i don't ever remember going to church when we were on vacation. then when i married a preacher who had grown up in a preacher's family, i ended up doing just that because he always had. i guess there are worse ways to spend a morning, right?? =) just kidding. anyway, i like this church. the people are very friendly and welcoming, and the pastor seems to be very kind and in love with Jesus. i like that in a person. max even said "are we going to church this sunday? i want to. i like the sermons!"...i told the pastor he had said that and he said "well that makes one!" i know he was kidding. after church we went to chili's for lunch. that was pretty fun too, mainly because my dad cracks me up. he ordered the guiltless chicken platter and instead of corn on the cob he asked to substitute "flat beans", meaning to say black beans. that was funny enough but then when greg ordered he ordered "the same as him, and also with the flat beans"...our sweet little server boy thought they were funny and got a little tickled. you see that dad was happy i was taking his picture. we came home and the creasy people got ready and sunscreened up and went to the beach. dad took us and dropped us off since we figured we'd have a hard time finding a place to park at that time of day. we normally go to the west side of the island but max had been asking me last week about the other end so this time we went to the "wrong side" of the island. lots and lots of room down there when we were there. we relaxed and had some of our sunday afternoon/evening napping and the boys read and sat and played and rolled around in the water. caught some minnows, that kind of thing. to wake myself up i suggested we take a walk down to the end of the island. it's been years since we were on that end and none of our boys remembered it so we did. they enjoyed it. max found several more shells. we got to the end, hoping maybe the tide was out far enough that we could walk over to ocean isle, but no such luck. it was very pretty though, calm water in that little inlet, several boats out. there was some different sand at that end, maybe because of the water being in it more than in other places, who knows. but our footprints were very deep there. kind of fun! the weather was really perfect. the sun wasn't too intense, the breeze was constant and wonderful, and the water was right next to us in tidepool form and then in incoming tide form. which ended up chasing us off. but we were kind of beached out at that point anyway. this morning we were up and at it early again. greg was playing golf with nathan, jim and jane and we needed to drop him off at their condo before we went to the beach. i decided to take jo her fudge this morning while we were out and kind of in the sunset gourmet area. i walked in and she said "it's fudge day!" then i showed her her plate and she was very happy that not only was today the day but that was the very minute! she didn't waste any time starting in. nothing like fudge for breakfast, i say. i had joked with her one time telling her i'd barter with her - my fudge for her cheese spread. i didn't really mean it. but guess what? she went right in the kitchen and fixed me right up. YUM. so now jo is happy with fudge and i'm happy with cheese spread. see how happy we both are? she lives in the same condos as my parents, so i told her if she runs out today (which could happen) to come knock on the door and i'd re-supply. i got a big ol' iced latte' to take to the beach with me, we dropped my cheese spread treasure off at home and off to the beach we went. it was a little cloudy and sprinkly this morning but it moved right on and we were able to go enjoy it. it actually created some extra beauty this morning. here are some of my favorite pictures from this morning.

this is the point each day, first to last, that i always say to myself "aaaaahhh..." that's because it's my first glimpse of the ocean each day. =)

the blake/creasy beach area had a little visitor today. and we had a luke who was just dying to catch him and make him his own. and he didn't bring his "cage" and so he had nothing to keep the crab in until we got back to the condo. not to mention that his nanny wouldn't have wanted the thing in the house anyway, and his mom wouldn't have let him keep it long-term anyway. that's just the way we do.

we came home and got all showered and clean. had some lunch...i had some of my cheese spread on club crackers. i don't care what you say, that's good stuff. greg made it home from golfing, had a good time, said he golfed his "usual". he's going with them again tomorrow morning. now we're all just kind of sitting around. there's been some napping going on. the boys are back in the back bedroom playing guitar hero. dad's outside reading. it's vacation. we're relaxing.

Your fudge looks wonderful, would you share your recipe?? I'm just sitting her sighing thinking how awesome the beach looks in your pics-it brings instant peace to me. When I see sun streaming down from clouds like that always reminds me of God's hands and fingers reaching down to earth. Beautiful pics.
