camping scouts

Yesterday we sent Blake and Luke off to scout camp. I guess those friends of ours who keep up with our blog are probably already used to seeing the same look on their faces when I take our boys' pictures going various places and doing what they do. They are going to be working on a few things for advancements and do a lot just for fun. Among other things, when they come home, they'll both know how to handle a motorboat (we don't have one) and one of them will be a lifeguard. Max started a week of cub scout day camp today (equally thrilled about the picture taking) and had a really good day. He said his favorite thing from today was learning how to use a slingshot. I'm hoping he doesn't get too good at it. It would make the brother-scuffles a little more interesting though, wouldn't it? His den leader has 2 tickets per day to give to one of his scouts who he sees doing a "good turn". Then at the end of the day, that little scout can turn the ticket in at the trading post for a free slushie. So when camp was over for today, Max walked over to me showing me his little blue ticket. (YAY!) I asked him what good deed he did and he said, "I don't know." Oh well, I guess that's good. I think it would be nice if that means he's just used to doing good things and it wasn't that out of the ordinary for him and so he can't remember it. Maybe Greg and I should start giving out tickets for free slushies at home.

Love the smiles...if you check all the pictures of our kids...they have the same "I can't believe that she wants to take another picture of us" smile. What is a Mom to do...they will thank us later...or maybe their kids will thank of for giving them tons of laughs and blackmail annunition. The slushie thing might be a great idea to use around here...hmmmmm

that last picture....max's slushie smile-how heartwarming. I think its interesting how God works so very mysteriously. His good deed (whatever that may be)resulted in that slushie which led to you taking his photo which posted here and was just what I needed tonight. Just think how many holes of light he punched in peoples' boxes today...and probably without even knowing.
