this and that

blake got his homemade by mom birthday dinner yesterday. i know we did the out to eat thing saturday but it's not the same. he wanted grilled chicken, mashed potatoes, corn and rolls, so that's what he got. i aim to please! he looked at the table and said "now this is my kind of food!" the kroger ladies saved me some time and put a nice little fudge cake out for me to buy. total chocolate, he couldn't have been happier. and i got my fix on wish-making and candle-blowing. so now he's officially 15 and i'm sort of okay-ish with it. (i might as well be ok, i can't do a thing about it!) now the only thing looming over my head is the learner's permit thing. he's only read the book once, so we're in no imminent danger. i'm not pushing it - makes no difference to me if he gets to drive soon or not! this week is national red ribbon week, which is a week to promote drug/alcohol/tobacco/violence prevention. at max's school they're doing different things every day to get the kids to think about that. today is "tie down drugs day" so everyone's supposed to wear crazy ties or some kind of goofy neckwear. max decided on a veggie tales tie from his dad's closet.

yesterday at church, our youth praise band led worship and did another song in the service also. they are SO good!!! we are just so proud and amazed at all the musical talent God has blessed our church family with. all the kids really enjoy it too. blake and luke LOVE it. here's them doing what they do. blake plays drums and luke plays bass. i know there are people singing but i focused more on the band. i have boys in there, after all. oh my goodness it fills our hearts to see them take the abilities God has given them and turn them into praise to Him...
