today is about blake, at least for the most part. he made all-state chorus! we've known that for a while now, but today's the day he went with the others from his school to have a couple days of rehearsals before their concert on saturday. he has really been looking forward to it! they've had extra practices at school and he's been sitting in the living room floor with his music and a cassette player learning his part on all his songs. does that ever bring back memories! we've done that a time or two in our lives. we're proud of him - and his choir director told me on the phone last night that blake does a really good job.

we know that but it is great to hear him say it. one of the songs they're doing is "old dan tucker", which blake told me about as soon as he got home the day he found out. that's a song my dad has sung to our boys since they were teenie tinie. (that and some others, including a version of popeye the sailor man that i was never sure i wanted them to hear!)

we're anxious to see him saturday and hear the music. more high school flashbacks for us, to be sure. and yes, i know his hair is in his eyes. i don't care. he's a good boy. max is doing ok throat-wise. minimal pain at this point. i mentioned that things are getting back to the status quo in the brother relations department. and today was no different. he's well enough to pick a fight but not well enough to be picked at. which is all he and luke wanted to do today, seems like. pick pick pick...luke was bored to tears and so focused all his energies on max. and not on popsicle delivery, either. the water main break that has caused the schools to be closed yesterday and today has been fixed and the "boil your water" order has been lifted. that should help a little tomorrow. blake gone for all-state and luke at school. a day of a little more rest and no one to argue with for max. he knows better than to argue with me. i always win...

yay blake!
i had no doubts he'd make it.
Was there ever any doubt that your children would have wonderful voices? They too might just bring me to tears! Way to go! I'd love to be there, sounds like a long walk down memory lane for you two. Wish I could hear those voices singing just a few more times.
