we've had a really really really good spring break. did absolutely nothing out of the ordinary, took no big trips, just had a relaxing time together. well, greg worked...but somebody has to...and he had evenings with us. we just don't get many totally free evenings at home, so this has been great to have days AND evenings unscheduled, except for one trip to the orthodontist for blake.

the daily question is "can we go to the pet store?"... since our friend ken gave luke an aquarium he was getting rid of, luke's become quite an expert on swimmie creatures. he spends a lot of time online learning about the ones he likes and seeing which ones like each other and which ones he'd like to have. i couldn't possibly give you the list of them, but he has a lot of little fishies. and a couple of dwarf frogs, which he insists are male and female, so we may have a squillion baby dwarf frogs sometime, who knows.

and i don't know why i haven't gotten a picture of the swimmies yet but i will. max has been begging for a hamster, and with every beg comes a refusal from his dad and a maybe from his mom. (i know we're supposed to be on the same team, but i love hamsters...) he's been saving his money and had about half of what he needed to get what he wanted. he took his calculator (hilarious) to the pet store the other day so he could get an exact total on a hamster and supplies. he got a big surprise when we offered to buy the cage if he bought the rest. he had kind of a stunned expression on his face. kind of like ed mcmahon had just showed up at his door with that giant check. or like if i had said, "i know it's time for supper but here have some ice cream instead." so he got a little hamster (name's hammy) and all the stuff that goes with him. except for the little ball you can let them run around your house in, he's still saving for that.
blake took some time to start sorting through that hall closet of kathy's. quite an undertaking but he's got enough creasy in him to take it as a challenge and make it happen. he got 3 shelves done then postponed til another day. maybe it was too much even for a typeA-er? OH! and kathy was right. she DID have rubber bands.

hey blake, it was so nice to be able to retrieve my camera battery charger without an avalanche this a.m.
