the youth group at church led morning worship yesterday. as usual they did a great job. they didn't just do the music this time, they did the whole thing. it was all on being fishers of men. a couple of them gave their testimonies, one talked about her favorite scripture and how she applies it to her daily life, they did a skit they wrote themselves, they were the ushers, they took up the offering..all of it. of course there was a lot of music, too. such a talented group of kids. the girls are doing really well with their singing, and the band boys are great. not to mention versatile. they kind of move around between this guitar and that, as well as the drums. luke had his first experience of playing and singing at the same time. blake played guitar some. he also did the "wrap-up" as they called it. talked some more about being fishers of men. mom told me after the service that all she could think about when he stood up to speak was the moments after he was born when she wasn't sure he was even going to breathe. (another story for another time...rough moments...) i just love to watch them do what they do. greg does too. there is so much else they could be involved in, so many things available to them, other options that are far less desirable, less beneficial. they're choosing to pour themselves and their God-given talents back into God. i love that.
we had lunch with mom and dad after church. then max made it home from camp. quite smelly, pretty tired but very happy after a couple days of big fun. we hung around the house all afternoon. can't tell you what my family did because i was involved in another long winters nap. back to church in the evening, at least for greg, blake and luke. then those boys went to play putt-putt with the youth. max and i went with the children's group to the forth's house for swimming. well, max went for swimming. i went for sweating. geez, it's hot here. they swam, tie-dyed shirts, had a lesson time, and ate lots of pizza. it was a good evening, in spite of the heat and those stupid cicadas. speaking of cicadas, are we done yet?
i will never EVER make an actual paper and pictures scrapbook. it's just not going to happen. so this blog is my family's "virtual scrapbook".
hopefully this will help those who'd like to know what's up with my family keep up to date on things! it seems as life becomes busier, it becomes more and more difficult to stay in touch with everyone, even those we are closest to. if you find this page, let me know! i would love to hear from you.
